Moving workloads from VMware to AWS

Moving workloads to Cloud has become easier with public cloud vendors like AWS and Microsoft (Microsoft Virtual Machine Convertor) and allowing users to migrate workloads to AWS and Azure respectively

From the tools prospective I wanted show that you the AWS connector and how to configure it for vCenter

AWS Connector vCenter Details

I assume that you would have configured the perquisites in AWS including

AMP Connector Federation Proxy
Administrators
AMP-Connector Key

Download the appliance from here  or from here and deploy the appliance (don’t forget to configure NTP) I had challenges with time.

Login to the tools web interface to register with the vCenter Server

Give in vCenter Server details

Register with the vCenter Server

Type in vCenter Server User Name and Password

Give in the AWS Credentials

Register the Plugin

Now you could access the AWS Management Console from vCenter Server home screen

Yes I did have time and browser related challenges and I had to update the browser to the right version

Now right click on any VM (choose a small vm) and you could export it to AWS

Now you could manage the VM in AWS from the vCenter Management Portal
